Young Canadian x-c racing phenom, Max Plaxton, has just announced that he'll be riding for team Sho-Air/Specialized through the 2012 Olympics (read more here ). We wish him the best of luck for his future, and hope that he has only good memories of the carbon fiber Blur XC that served him well before he got snatched back up into the big leagues.
For our part, we were stoked to have Max riding our bikes, and were proud of the early season success he had aboard them, including his overall victory at the Keyesville Classic on March 14th and 15th ( here. ). Racers in the All Mountain class were awarded points over a spread of four events - a cross country race, a short track race, and two different style downhill races. Max proved his versatility with a victory in the cross country, a narrow 2nd place to Chris Sneddon in the short track, and a 2nd place in the paired downhill, giving him the overall for the weekend and the first taste of blood for our new carbon Blur XC in the US.
Extra kudos must go out for Max's state of the art downhill race attire.
We haven't been able to get ahold of Max for any parting comment, since he's down in Chile racing the Pan-American Games this weekend, on what will probably be his farewell ride with the Blur. Ah well. It was brief, it was beautiful, go tear it up this weekend, Max! Thanks for briefly making us look good...
